An individual I greatly respect recently shared this thought: What if like the Statue of Liberty we have on the East coast, we have another symbol just as important on the West Coast?
Introducing an idea: the Statue of Accountability.
Liberty gives us freedom, the freedom to choose, to act, to speak, to build our lives. But freedom without accountability eventually loses its strength. That’s where the balance comes in.
In this image, the Statue of Accountability holds a scale high overhead. That scale represents balance, fairness, and consequences, the idea that every action carries weight. It’s a reminder that rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. That truth matters. That integrity matters. That choices matter.
The book labeled “Accountability” represents principles, standards, and personal responsibility. Not something forced, but something chosen.
Side by side, Liberty and Accountability would tell the full American story:
Liberty says, you are free.
Accountability says, you are responsible for what you do with that freedom.
One without the other doesn’t work for long.
Real strength as a nation, or as individuals, comes from having both.
Freedom to rise… and the discipline to stand behind our actions.
